Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

New fan of this band collective of a few experienced players from up in the AmherstMA/Brattleboro VT region. King Tuff, Chris Wiseman and Ruthie Garbus of Feathers make up this fun little trio that seem to have as much of hand in early 70s Neil Young - hear King Tuff’s “Sun Medallion for more of that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xB7Mw32ntk&feature=related - as they do in modern indie-pop. Most of all I’m jealous of Ruthie who seems to be talented at everything she does and can man the drums expertly (a skill I’m trying really hard to learn myself). Also by the way she’s the sister of Merril Garbus, the lady behind tUnE-yArDs whom I interviewed a few months ago.

And again, who doesn’t love a band who actually smiles in their publicity photo? Happy Birthday just signed to Sub Pop and this song was on the Sub Pop 2010 sampler. I can’t wait to hear more.
